He has been a teacher and researcher at the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (Deemed University), Mumbai, and ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow for about 39 years in the field of Fisheries & Aquaculture. He was selected Assistant Director General (Inland Fisheries), ICAR in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi from 2016-19, where he looked after various research programmes of the Fisheries Division of ICAR and provided policy support to the Union Govt. in the field of fisheries and aquaculture. He completed 25 research projects of his own on various issues of aquaculture and fisheries as a scientist and published 7 books, 6 book chapters, 12 manuals, 63 scientific papers, and 56 popular articles. Thirteen students have been awarded MFSc and PhD Thesis under his guidance.
