Prof. Asim Ali Khan

Prof. Asim Ali Khan is a Professor in School of Unani Medical Education at Jamia Hamdard (Deemed to be University), New Delhi, and at present holding the key posts of Dean of School of Unani Medical Education and Research and Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), Majeedia Unani Hospital, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi.

Prof. Khan is also Head of the department of Moalajat with additional charge of Head of Department of Kulliyat and Department of Saidla in SUMER, Jamia Hamdard.

Prof. Asim Ali Khan is also Principal Investigator (PI) of Centre of Excellence (Unani), at Jamia Hamdard.

Besides these administrative responsibilities, he is also serving Majeedia Unani Hospital as Senior Consultant.

He is Member Board of Governance, National Council for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), Govt. of India. Previously, Member, Board of Governors of Central Council of Indian Medicine, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India.

Prof. Khan is also the Chairman, AYD 04 Sectional Committee of AYUSH, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Government of India.

Previously Prof. Asim Ali Khan has Headed, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India as Director General for about 5 years.  He was also having the charge of Advisor (Unani), Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India in 2022.

 

He has been Head, Dept. of Moalajat, School of Unani Medicine, Jamia Hamdard (Jan 2014 – 23 Feb 2017), International Students’ Advisor of Jamia Hamdard (University) (2009 till April 2018)

He is having almost 35 years of teaching and Clinical experience in the field of Unani medicine. He has published more than 90 papers in International and National journals with 298 Citations, having h-index—9 and i10-index—8.      

Prof. Asim Ali Khan was also associated with WHO for the development and publication of documents related to Unani medicine viz. “WHO Benchmarks for training in Unani medicine” and “WHO benchmarks for the practice of Unani medicine” published in February 2022, and “WHO international standard terminologies on Unani medicine” published in January 2023.

Prof. Khan was also associated with WHO for the development of ICD11 (International Classification of Diseases –11).
