School of Nursing & Allied Health

The Rufaida College of Nursing was established in 1983 as per the vision of Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb, the founder of Jamia Hamdard, who wanted to encourage girls from Muslim minority community and weaker sections of the society to take up the noble profession of Nursing. Rufaida College of Nursing has completed 39 yrs of its existence with commendable achievements in the field of Nursing Education. We carry the legacy of our founder Hakeem Saheb Janab Abdul Hameed, who gave the name "Hamdard" to his venture which means "Sympathy for all and sharing of pain".   We initially started with Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery Programme, and later in 1994, 2008, 2013 and 2014, B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and Ph.D. in Nursing were started, respectively. With the motto “Par Excellence in preparing competent Nurse Professionals, the Faculty of Nursing has been working towards the achievement of following objectives, ever since its inception:

  .To provide  quality education and training to student nurses at the undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral levels.
  .To participate in health care delivery system of India in promotion of health, prevention of illness, care of sick, restoration of health and rehabilitation.

 

The courses offered are recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the State Nursing Council (DNC). The students are given clinical, ‘hands-on’ training in the parent hospital i.e. HAHC Hospital and other affiliated hospitals, such as Safdarjung Hospital, VIMHANS, IHBAS,  Health centre cum Maternity Home, M.C.D, Badarpur, to name a few. The year 2014 has been a year marker with the establishment of the  National Skills Training Center- DAKSH in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine

The students and teachers have been continuously involved in various researches and community service activities, such as conduction of mass health education projects, health camps, health melas etc. Their participation and endeavors in certain health issues such as immunization, maternal and child health, prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and alcoholism, promotion of mental health etc., have been commendable. Students participate in various cultural, sports and co-curricular activities and have won many prizes. The graduates and post graduates of our college are placed in Hospitals and Institutes of Highest repute in India and abroad.
