The department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tibb covers the teaching and research in preventive and social medicine as Tahaffuzi in Arabic means Preventive and Samaji means Social. This department also covers the teaching of Medical Jurisprudence and toxicology. Besides the regular and routine teaching and training work, the department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tibb is always remained actively associated with certain Community Health Activities.
The department imparts health education at the Under graduate and Post graduate levels covering the subjects of Nutrition, Epidemiology, Multidimensional aspects of Pollutions, Environmental Studies, Communicable & Non-Communicable diseases, Demography, Maternal Health, Family Planning, Neonatal Care and Geriatrics etc. The departrnent also imparts education of Tibb-ul-Qanoon wa llmus Samoom (Forensic Medicine & Toxicology). This discipline provides the knowledge on the subject of Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Entomology, thanatology, dactylography, modes of deaths, all sorts of injuries, Procedure of Postmortem, elementary knowledge of IPC, CrPC and applied toxicology.
The major thrust areas for research in Tahaffzui Wa Samaji Tibb include Asbab-e-Sitta Zarooriya, Immunization and Lifestyle Disorders. Incidence of lifestyle disorders is increasing day by day and it is the need of hour to explore new dimensions of prevention and management of these disorders. With increase in life expectancy rate the population of elderly people is increasing subsequently Global Warming, Environmental Pollution, Stress and Urbanization, elderly people in particular are facing a lot of health issues. The literature of Unani medicine is very rich in healthcare of elderly under the heading of Tadabir-e-Mashaikh. The department covers the teaching as well research in Geriatric Care, lifestyle modification, diet control, enhancement of immunity, Dalak, Riyazat and Hammam etc.

The Department aims to provide quality education at both undergraduate and Post-graduate levels in the field of Community Health. It undertakes to conduct evidence-based research in Unani Medicine particularly related to the Preventive Healthcare to promote the Health Seeking Behaviour of the community.
