Department of Ilmul Advia
Ilmul Advia is one of the most important branch of Unani System of Medicine. It deals with the morphology, identification, characteristic features, pharmacological actions, uses etc. of Unani drugs. The department of Ilmul Advia has a drug museum and five well equipped laboratories viz. Pharmacognosy lab, Pharmacology lab, Neuro-pharmacology lab, Drug Standardization lab and Dawasazi lab (Unani Pharmacy lab). The department deals in various subjects like Basic Principles of Unani pharmacology, description of Advia Mufradah (Single Unani drugs) and Advia Murakabah (Compound formulations). The experts of these subjects are required in various fields like dispensaries and pharmaceutical companies, research institutes, medicinal plant conservation & cultivation sector etc. Post-graduation in Ilmul Advia discipline offers wide range of job opportunities.
The thrust areas of the department are pre-clinical research which includes neuro-pharamacological, nephro-protective, hepato-protective, anti-depressant, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory etc. screening of single and compound Unani medicines.

- The Vision of the department is to create learned and confident professionals who would act as excellent resource for the well-being of the society. The professionals would be asset in providing training, education and creating awareness regarding physical, mental and social growth.
- To impart quality research training and teaching of Unani pharmacology, understanding and integrating the holistic and molecular approach of Unani drugs for betterment of system.
Mission:
- To utilise the facilities and amenities like instruments, laboratories, chemical, herbal drugs and competent faculties for inculcating theoretical & practical knowledge to the professionals.
- To inculcate the research aptitude in accordance with Unani paradigm that will be relevant to current bio sciences in creating skilled professionals.
- Imparting knowledge about Unani classical text as well as pharmacological aspects of diseases and drugs. Application of imparted education for personal and professional growth and development.
- To develop analytical & technical skills regarding identification of herbal and allopathic system of medicine along-with their impact on human body.
