Department of Botany



Faculty of Science.

          The Department of Botany offers M.Sc. course in Environmental Botany as well as Ph.D. programme. Research activities focuses on the plant response to air and soil pollution; crop physiology and mineral nutrition of the plant; characterization of herbal drugs; phenomena of tree growth and development; tissue culture and plant biotechnology. The department has one Professor, three Readers and three Lecturers.


Vacant Position

Lecturer – One post (Preference to persons with disabilities)

          Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale with latter grades O,A,B,C,D,E & F in M.Sc. Botany/Life Sciences/Bioscience with specialization in Plant Ecology/Environmental Science/Stress Physiology.

          Candidates, besides fulfilling the above qualifications, should have cleared the eligibility test for lecturers conducted by UGC or similar test accredited by the UGC. Candidates who have completed M.Phil degree by December 31, 1993 or have submitted Ph.D thesis to the university in the concerned subject on or before December 31,2002 are exempted from appearing in the NET examination. In case such candidates fail to obtain Ph.D degree, they have to pass the NET examination.


Desirable:

  • Ph.D degree in Botany/Life Sciences/Bioscience with specialization in Plant Ecology/Environmental Science/Stress Physiology

  • Additional qualification or experience in the field of Environmental Botany/Stress Physiology/Plant Bio-technology
