Jamia Hamdard at World Health and Asian Traditional (WHAT) Medicine International Conference and Exhibition19-21 June, 2009, Putra World Trade Centre, Malaysia.

World Health and Asian Traditional (WHAT) Medicine conference Themed "Sustainable Global Health", the conference was held in collaboration with the University of Mississippi’s National Centre for Natural Products Research (NCNPR), USA, Indian Institute of Integrated Medicine (IIIM) and Jamia Hamdard University, India at Putra World Trade Center, Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. This 3-day conference and exhibition was a perfect opportunity for the public, trade and professionals to come together to gain valuable insight into the most up-to-date services, products, brands and technology advancements available today, explore new business opportunities and network with the finest vendors and experts of this progressive industry.
Hamdard University put up a great show by sending a Scientific delegation, comprising of seven faculty members (Dr Asim Ali Khan, Dr Farhan J Ahmad, Dr M Mujeeb, Dr Sayeed Ahmad, Dr M Samim, Dr GK Jain and Shadab Pathan), headed by Dr GN Qazi, VC, Hamdard University. The Delegation made a huge impact by presenting Four Oral Scientific papers and Fourteen Scientific posters in the area of Standardization of herbal Unani medicines, Formulation Development of herbal medicines, Nano-herbal medicines, Clinical Studies and Halal Herbal Industry. All the papers were well appreciated by the experts and participants. Other Notable speakers at the conference were Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak Vice Chancellor, University Sains Malaysia, Dato’ Dr. Nor Shahidah Khairullah, Director, MN Consultancy Sdn Bhd, Professor A.N. Rao, Emeritus Professor, National University of Singapore, Dr. Jonathan Obaje, CEO & Consultant Scientist, Urah Resources Pte Ltd, Singapore, Dr. Larry A. Walker, Director National Center for Natural Products Research, University of Mississippi, USA. Professor Dr. Mohamad Roji Samidi, R&D Manager, CEPP, University Teknologi Malaysia, Dr. Deborah Cooper, Chief Scientific Officer, CollTech, Australia Other highlights of the conference were Industrial dialogue on "Commercializing Asian Traditional Medicine – Adding Business to Science and Technology" and an Herbal Medicine Exhibition which showcased more than fifty herbal medicine manufacturer from Malaysia, India and Singapore.Hamdard Wakf Laboratories also showcased their large range of products.
A large number of patients showed interest in Unani System of Medicine. Dr Asim Ali Khan from Hamdard University and Dr Ghazala Javed from CCRUM gave free consultation to all the patients.
