Q1. I have passed B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). What are the career options        for me in your University?

  • We have MCA, MBA and PGDCA programmes suited to your qualification. Besides, we have a M.Sc. (Chemistry-Industrial Applications) programme for the graduates with Chemistry as one of the subjects. Admission for MBA and MCA have been completed for the academic year beginning in July 2002. Admission notice for these courses is issued in the month of November/December.

Q2. I am going to appear B.Sc. (Botany, Chemistry, Zoology) examination this year and       I am interested to pursue higher studies in your university. What is your advice for       me?

  • We have masters programme (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Environmental Botany and Toxicology.

Eligibility for Admission To M.Sc. in Biochemistry: A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Biochemistry must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination with Biochemistry or Chemistry as one of the subjects securing at least 55% marks in aggregate.


Eligibility for Admission To M.Sc. in Biotechnology:
A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Biotechnology must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination of a recognized university in Biological Sciences securing a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. The candidates having passed B.Sc. (Agriculture) or B.V.Sc. are also eligible.

Eligibility for Admission To M.Sc. in M.Sc. Chemistry-Industrial Applications: A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Chemistry must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination of a recognized university with Chemistry as one of the subjects securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate..

Eligibility for Admission to M.Sc. in Environmental Botany: A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Environmental Botany must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination of a recognized university with Botany/Plant Sciences as one of the subjects securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate.

Eligibility for Admission to M.Sc. in Toxicology: A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. in Toxicology must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination of a recognized university with any three of Botany, Chemistry, Zoology, Biochemistry or any other subject of Life Sciences with at least 55% marks in the aggregate. Candidates who are B.Sc. in Chemistry/Biochemistry/ Biology and have also obtained B.U.M.S./B. Pharm. or other professional degree from Jamia Hamdard will also be eligible to compete for admission to the course. The criterion of 55% marks at B.Sc. level will be relaxed in their cases and they will be given a weightage of 5% while computing the merit for admission.

Q3. For admission to M.Sc. (Biotechnology) shall I have to appear for joint entrance test       conducted by different universities.

  • No, we have our own entrance test for admission to this programme

Q4. My result will not be out by the time admission in Jamia Hamdard will start. Am I       eligible to apply and get the admission?

  • Yes, you can apply. If selected, you will have to produce your mark sheet with the required percentage by July 30, 2002.

Q5. I have come to know that Jamia Hamdard offers some courses in Rehabilitation       Sciences at masters level. What are the courses available?

  • Two of our programmes viz., M.P.Th. (in Neurology, Osteo-myology, Cardio-pulmonary and Sports Health) and M.O.Th. (in Orthopedics and Pediatrics) are running very successfully.

Q7. I am interested to pursue higher studies in toxicology. Please inform about the job       opportunities after this course?

  • Besides Jamia Hamdard, Agra University and Madras University also offer M.Sc. in Toxicology. After completing this programme, you can get job in pharmaceutical industries (in their toxicology units), other industries (in their environmental monitoring units) and position of scientist in research institutes etc. There is great demand of toxicologists in the US also.

Q8. I am interested to pursue higher studies in Islamic studies. What programmes of       studies are available for me in Jamia Hamdard?

  • You can join our M.A. (Islamic studies) programme, if you have studied Islamic studies at undergraduate level as one of the subjects. This programme is also open to the candidates who have passed Fazilat from a recognized Madarsas.
