Bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary area at the intersection of Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics and Life Sciences. It is an enabling technology that holds great promise in managing and analyzing huge amount of biodatabase. Strong R&D component of Indian and Global Biotech and Pharmaceutical companies need to strengthen their expertise in bioinformatics. The Department of Bioinformatics at Jamia Hamdard offers a two-year M. Tech. programme in Bioinformatics. The Department has bioinformatics infrastructure facility (BIF) with dedicated servers and computers, supported by the DBT, Govt. of India.
M. Tech. in Bioinformatics (MTB)
The MTB programme is open for all those who hold a suitable B. Tech. degree or equivalent (B. Pharm.) or M. Sc. degree in bioinformatics, computer science, information technology, mathematics, statistics, biosciences or medicine, besides being proficient in English language. MTB graduates will find opportunities/positions to work in industrial and academic facilities such as biomedical companies, universities and research institutions. A bioinformatician often acts in a multidisciplinary environment with people from both methodological sciences, and biosciences and medicine.
